Abstract :

Magnetic field aligned super-small-scale irregularities in the concentration of charged particles are often observed in the Earth’s ionosphere and magnetosphere. Earlier, the time evolution of such irregularities was studied with the help of the mathematical model, developed in the Polar Geophysical Institute. This model is based on a numerical solution of the Vlasov-Poisson system of equations. This mathematical model is used in the present paper. The purpose of the present paper is to examine numerically how high-power high-frequency radio waves, utilized for artificial heating experiments and pumped into the ionosphere by ground-based ionospheric heaters, influence on the time evolution of the super-small-scale irregularities present naturally in the F-layer ionospheric plasma. The results of simulation indicate that a presence of high-power high-frequency radio wave ought to influence essentially on the behavior of physically significant parameters of the plasma inside and in the vicinity of the irregularity.

Abstract :

A study of the competencies of Abu-Dhabi Police’s (ADP’s) project managers and the associated impact of the organization’s values was conducted. This paper draws from the study to report on the relationship between the relative attainment of ADP’s 5 values and 15 competencies by their project managers.  Following an in-depth literature review, the need for studying the connection between the values and competencies was established. A quantitative approach was adopted for studying the connections where a questionnaire was used to collect data from both project managers and managers who are currently working with ADP. 157 questionnaires were distributed to the potential respondents and 71 completed responses were obtained, representing a response rate of 45%. The data collected was analyzed using ordinal regression analysis which indicated how different ADP values affect the project managers’ competencies varyingly. For example, the ADP value of ‘Integrity and honesty’ was found to have a higher impact on 5 of their project managers’ competencies which are: integration management, scope management, time management, action and achieving, and leadership. Similar connections between the other values and some of the competencies were established.

Abstract :

This research assesses the impact of rainfall variability on the flooding regime of the Zambezi floodplain as part of the scientific endeavour to understand the dynamics of hydrologic variability in natural systems such as riverine and floodplain ecosystems. In the context of global environmental change, hydro-climatic fluctuations are observed to be intensifying in magnitude and frequency with notable impacts on both human and natural systems. Understanding variability is important for the effective management of ecosystems which sustain human livelihoods. The study was conducted on a temporal scale of 50 years from 1965 to 2014 based on observed discharges and rainfall at the Chavuma National Gauge Station in the Zambezi district of Zambia. The research was guided by the hypothesis that there were no significant variations in the discharge on account of rainfall variability. Statistical methods of data analysis employed included exploratory, frequency and sensitivity analysis techniques. The results of the analysis revealed significant inter-annual variation of 21% in the discharge time series with a dominant periodicity of 10 years in its sinusoidal discharge signal. The sensitivity of the discharge to rainfall was found to be insignificant with a very low precipitation elasticity of streamflow of 0.03. In view of these findings, the conclusion of the study is that the flooding regime of the Zambezi floodplain is seemingly robust against the variability of rainfall. However, further research needs to be undertaken to provide deeper insight into the changes in the flooding regime of the Zambezi floodplain taking into account a broader spectrum of natural and anthropogenic forcing, and to quantify the flooding regime for integrated wetland management linking the dynamics of flooding to the biological diversity in the ecosystem.

Abstract :

Single crystals of pure and urea doped L-histidine bromide (LHB) were grown by isothermal slow evaporation technique. The zwitterionic nature of L-histidine leads to the formation of many crystals when organic and inorganic additives are added. Even though pure and urea doped LHB crystallize in non-centro symmetric from, it exhibits SHG efficiency and chemical stability. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies were carried out to confirm the grown crystals and found that grown crystals crystallize in orthorhombic structure. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis was performed to confirm the group ligands on the sample. Thermal stability has been analyzed using TG/DTA studies. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the crystal studied as a function of frequencies and also at room temperature and the results of there experiments are discussed.

Abstract :

Healthy Eating Index developed to assess whether a person's diet is adjusted to the recommended healthy diet guidelines, and as a valid indicator it has been used for the assessment of food consumption. This research aims to evaluate the quality of food consumption to Greek students aged 10-14. The sample consisted of 431 students (204 boys and 227 girls) aged 10-14 years, which were chosen randomly and were not involved in any form of diet and 24 hours food questionnaire was used to recall from memory in the classroom. For the statistical analysis, it was used Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). Results revealed that there was significant difference in age Wilks' L=0,74 F(11,411)=2,63 p<0,00. There were statistically significant differences because of age for the variable grain consumption F(4,421)=4,74 p<0,05, the variable consumption of meat F(4,277)=3,69 p <0,05, the consumption of milk F(4,421)=6,71 p<0,05, the intake of saturated fat F(4,421)=3,28 p<0,05. Regarding gender, there were small but statistically significant differences in sodium consumption F(4,421)=8,08 p<0,00. There were no statistically significant differences for the Healthy Eating Index by gender and the interaction of age with gender. In conclusion, many Greek young and teens consume foods that enhance the development of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. Both young and teens regardless of their social and economic situation could benefit by increasing the consumption of fruit, vegetables, cereals and choosing foods with little saturated fat and reduced salt intake.

Abstract :

Introduction: Dry needling- e.t. Acupuncture- is one of the most accepted CAM therapies, most well-known branch of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, which flows intensive research a few decades in the US, Europe, even in China. Is backed by proven research results of Evidence Based Medicine for properly as well.

Objective: To summarize the newer understanding of the mechanism of action and indications with regard to harmonization and closer to the TCM / TCM tenets of contemporary classical Chinese medical applying for.

Method: An international literature review, which called CAMmbrella, the Pan - European Union project work package 4. -5.  based on its research, which took part in the work of the Department of Complementary Medicine in,  Health Science Faculty of Pecs University, as well.

Results: Acupuncture and TCM, are one of the most researched area of non–conventional, complementary therapies. We have already demonstrated convincingly established by the management of the majority of acupuncture point physiological responses. The mediator neurohormonal transmitters are already known about now. 40 have been identified which are involved in induced "dry needling" effect.

Discussion: The “Bridge” between the Eastern and Western medicine is the appropriate knowledge transfer, research and application. The performance of in-service training is a university competence. Evidence Based Medicine has an efficient and effective use based on the quality of training in-service training, which is conducted in some Universities for more decades. Further development of this training, quality education can only be realistic to achieve the goals (which effectively give rise to a dedicated TCM Confucius Institute Pecs University).
